Have you ever felt as if you have butterflies fluttering in your (4) ___________? That uneasy feeling is anxiety, and it happens to everyone. It is when you feel worried or uncomfortable. A little anxiety is a normal human reaction to stress. But sometimes, anxiety can (5) ___________ out of control.
Anxiety is similar (6) ___________ fear. When facing danger, your brain prepares to decide: fight or run away quickly. That is called the fight-or-flight reaction. The brain tells the body to release adrenaline, a chemical that (7) ___________ specific changes in the body. Your heart beats faster. You breathe more quickly. Your muscles tense, and you start to sweat. You might feel a little dizzy or sick to your stomach.
There are good reasons for the body's fight-or-flight reaction, explains William Shryer, a social worker in Danville, Calif. Anxiety is like an internal alarm (8) ___________ helps you stay safe. Fear of heights can keep you from falling off a cliff. Feeling nervous before a test can (9) ___________ you to study. “Anxiety is a good thing,” he says.
Still, you can have too many good things. “Normal anxiety (10) ___________ when the danger is gone,” Shryer says. But worry can get in the way of life when (11) ___________ sticks around. About 13 of every 100 kids aged 9 to 17 have what is known as anxiety disorders. Shryer says anxiety “is like a haunting monster for those kids.”
Which section contains the following information? Choose the letter A, B, C or D.
A. Caffeine is a stimulant, a chemical that temporarily increases any function in your body. Caffeine makes your heart beat faster and harder. It also causes your kidneys to produce a bit more urine.
B. Caffeine can temporarily make you feel more awake and energetic in small doses. Most people use caffeine to help them wake up in the morning and feel alert throughout the day. In small amounts, caffeine can also help people concentrate and study longer. Even though caffeine is generally considered safe, it affects how your body works, making it an actual drug.
C. The downside to caffeine is that too much of it can make falling asleep difficult. Too much caffeine can also give you the "jitters," making you feel anxious even though you have nothing to feel nervous about. Your hands and fingers may even shake a bit. Because caffeine can make the heart work harder, doctors recommend that people with heart or circulation problems avoid drinking coffee or tea. Another adverse effect of caffeine is your body's reaction to a sudden decrease in the amount you regularly consume. You may feel sluggish during the first few days if you quit suddenly. You may even develop a bad headache that lasts a day or two.
D. So how much caffeine is OK, and how much is too much? There is no easy answer. Some people guzzle five or six cans of cola daily with no problems. Others get shaky hands from eating a bar of chocolate. Sometimes body size can determine how much caffeine a person can handle. Suppose Ed, a big eighth grader, and Amy, a petite fourth grader, each drink a supersized Cola. Ed may feel no different afterward, but Amy may be bouncing off the walls!

1. According to a recent American study, food allergies are becoming more common, especially among children. About 8 % of those under 18 have developed an allergy – a total of 6 million children in the USA.
2. Food allergies occur when our body's immune system attacks harmless food proteins that it thinks are dangerous. The body develops chemicals called histamines. These chemicals can affect the skin, blood cells, lungs, stomach, and heart.
3. But why are food allergies increasing? Experts give many reasons. One reason is that everything is too clean. Our body does not have the training to fight off attackers. In a world of pasteurized milk or antibacterial soap, we no longer have the power to fight off germs and harmful bacteria. Chemicals in our foods have also changed them. Genetic engineering has changed most of the food we eat today. Some people are also allergic to additives in foods and food coloring.
4. Even though food allergies can affect everyone, you may be especially at risk if your parents also have food allergies. Although a food allergy can begin at any age, most allergies start in childhood. Some allergies go away when you grow up with milk or egg allergies. Others, like fish or nut allergies, are probably with you your whole life.
5. Many symptoms are related to a food allergy. In some cases, you feel itching in your mouth, or your lips may swell. When histamines reach the breathing system, they may cause asthma. Allergens that get into the stomach may cause vomiting or diarrhea. Sometimes allergies even lead to unconsciousness and may threaten your life.
6. At least one-third of the children affected are allergic to more than one kind of food. They need help staying healthy and getting the proper diet. Parents whose children have allergies should always have antihistamines and epinephrine with them. These drugs act quickly and let children breathe better. They work against allergic reactions.
