A few years ago, the only way to find answers was by speaking to an expert or visiting the library. (1) _______ information was much harder, even for students, teachers, and researchers. Now, with the Internet, it's much simpler. People can quickly (4) _______ anything they want, from ancient books to scientific studies. Technology (5) _______ the obstacles to learning, so teachers, students, and researchers can easily share ideas. Study apps on mobile phones also allow people to learn anytime and anywhere. These apps help students study at their own pace, supporting their (6) _______ or careers in a way that wasn't possible before.

1. In February 2023, I had a terrible travel experience on my first night in Siem Reap. I arrived in Cambodia in the evening after a long day of travel from Chiang Rai. I was exhausted and went to bed early. Suddenly, around 1 a.m., I woke up to the sound of voices. I quickly realised that three men were inside my hotel room, which was very horrible because I was travelling alone.

2. I panicked, stood up on my bed, and started screaming. The men left my room right away, but I was too scared to go back to sleep. I moved a chair in front of the door since the lock wasn't very secure, with no deadbolt or chain for extra safety. I checked out of the hotel as soon as it was morning. Later that day, the hotel manager emailed me to ask why I had left.

3. I explained what happened, and she said it was just an accident. The men had lost their key and told the front desk the wrong room number. After this, I bought a portable lock for my hotel room doors. Even though it was only a mistake, the experience was frightening and made me more careful about my safety.
