The total volume of blood pumped through the heart per day is:
70 x 70 x 60  x 24 = 7 056 000 ( ml )
7 056 000 ml = 7 056 l => It closest to 7000 l so we choose D
Answer: D. 7000 l

21 tháng 7 2021

In 1 minute, it can pumped:

70 x 70 = 4900 ( ml )

In 1 hour, it can pumped:

1 hour : 60 (minutes)

4900 x 60 = 294 000 ( ml )

In 1 day, it can pumped:

1 day = 24 hour

294 000 x 24 = 7056000 ( ml )

7056000 ml = 7056 l

Answer: 7056 l

Tossing and turning at night could double the risk of a heart attack People who toss and turn in their sleep are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack, research suggests. Scientists said regular waking in the night should be seen as a warning of future ill-health.The study of nearly 13,000 people found that people who struggled to sleep through the night were 99 per cent more likely to suffer from heart attacks or severe angina. Those who took more than half an hour to fall asleep or got less than six hours of sleep a night were also at increased risk. The Japanese research did not establish why there were such a strong association between sleep and heart health. But scientists said that the act of constant waking might cause “overactivity” in the nervous system, which could raise heart the heart rate and blood pressure, placing extra strain on the heart. Poor sleep could also be a symptom of poor health, meaning that those with heart problems were less likely to get a decent night’s sleep. The research found people who took more than half an hour to fall asleep had a 52 per cent increased heart attack risk and 48 per cent increased risk of a stroke. And those who got less than six hours of sleep a night were 24 per cent more likely to have a heart attack.

Read the passage below and decide whether the statements are TRUE or FALSE?

Nguyen Tri Hieu, 48, from HCM City has donated blood 71 times. However, he has set a goal of donating blood up to 100 times or until his health no longer allows him to.

“My mother died due to lack of blood for a transfusion when I was 20 years old. My family got together in an effort to donate blood to help her. We even bought blood from other donors, but it was not enough,” he recalled.

“I wasn't just my mother at that time, many patients were in desperate need of blood transfusions but the resources simply weren't there and they had to leave this world before their time.” said Hieu.

A few years after his mother passed away, Hieu decided to register to donate blood. Since the first time in 1997, Hieu has donated blood for 71 times, offering up the life-giving resource once every three months.

“There have been many times when I've donated blood to people in need of urgent transfusions. Once, when I was working, my friend at the blood bank called me to help a child at the Heart Institute. My boss immediately told me to go to the hospital.”

“I remembered all the times I've donated blood like that because if did not hurry, the patient’s life would be at risk," he said.

Hieu is also a registered organ donor. "I feel like I can give something, I don't need to keep it," he said. "I feel like I can give away anything, I should not keep it, how can I do it when someone might need it.”

Hieu was one of 100 donors who were honoured at a ceremony on Thursday for

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

According to anthropologists, people in preindustrial societies spent 3 to 4 hours per day or about 20 hours per week doing the work necessary for life. Modern comparisons of the amount of work performed per week, however, begin with the Industrial Revolution (1760–1840) when 10– to 12–hour workdays with six workdays per week were the norm. Even with extensive time devoted to work, however, both incomes and standards of living were low. As incomes rose near the end of the Industrial Revolution, it became increasingly common to treat Saturday afternoons as a half–day holiday. The half holiday had become standard practice in Britain by the 1870's, but did not become common in the United States until the 1920's.

In the United States, the first third of the twentieth century saw the workweek move from 60 hours per week to just under 50 hours by the start of the 1930' s. In 1914, Henry Ford reduced daily work hours at his automobile plants from 9 to 8. In 1926 he announced that henceforth his factories would close for the entire day on Saturday. At the time, Ford received criticism from other firms such as United States Steel and Westinghouse, but the idea was popular with workers.

The Depression years of the 1930's brought with them the notion of job sharing to spread available work around; the workweek dropped to a modem low for the United States of 35 hours. In 1938 the Fair Labor Standards Act mandated a weekly maximum of 40 hours to begin in 1940, and since that time the 8–hour day, 5–day workweek has been the standard in the United States. Adjustments in various places, however, show that this standard is not immutable. In 1987, for example, German metalworkers struck for and received a 37.5–hour workweek; and in 1990 many workers in Britain won a 37–hour week. Since 1989, the Japanese government has moved from a 6– to a 5–day workweek and has set a national target of 1,800 work hours per year for the average worker. The average amount of work per year in Japan in 1989 was 2,088 hours per worker, compared to 1,957 for the United States and 1,646 for France.

Compared to preindustrial times, the number of hours in the workweek in the nineteenth century______.

A. remained constant

B. decreased slightly

C. decreased significantly

D. increased significantly
