There is only one disease called common: the common cold. We call it the common cold because every year millions of people catch it.
Everybody knows the symptoms: a runny nose, a slight fever, coughing and sneezing. It is very unpleasant, but nobody knows a cure.
At the drugstore, there are usually shelves with cold "cures". These medicines don't cure a cold, but they do relieve the symptoms. Whatever you do, your cold will last for a few days and then disappear.
How can you help prevent a cold? Eat well, exercise and you will be fit and healthy.

A couple of months ago I went to the Greek island of Crete. We stayed in a town called Xania, which is on the coast in the north west of Crete. It is a really picturesque town with small cobbled streets, a large harbour and many ancient buildings. I went there with my husband Brendan for a one-week holiday.
We got there by various means of transport, taking a train to the airport, then a four-hour flight, followed by a twenty-minute taxi ride from the airport to where we were staying. The whole journey took around eight hours from door to door, which was a bit longer than we expected it to take, although we didn't have any major delays, thank goodness.
I enjoyed my stay there very much, as I had not had a holiday for ages and needed to switch off from working. We didn't do much sightseeing, although Xania itself has a long and fascinating history so went to the local museum in order to learn more about it. I spent a lot of time reading books and swimming in the sea, which I must admit was quite a lot colder than I thought it would be. I also enjoyed eating the delicious Cretan food, and walking around the ancient streets in the town.
One of the things I enjoyed the most was going to a restaurant called Xalkina, where they had live Cretan music every night. The musicians were playing instruments that I had never seen before, and I loved the style and tempo of the music they played. I would definitely like to go back to Crete one day, though next time I would probably make more effort to see the amazing sights of the rest of Crete.

Among many programs and channels available on TV these days such as the current news programs, sport programs, entertaining programs, educational programs and movie programs, etc, I the program "the World of Animals" most.
This program is usually shown on VTV2 everyday at 8.30 in the evening. It often lasts about 45 minutes. In this program, stories of the life of many animals in the world are told in a very lively way. For example, people can watch films about monkeys, snakes, tigers, insects, birds, sea turtles, sharks etc and even the penguins and the polar bears in the far North. While watching these films, I find the everyday life activities and habits of these animals very interesting and full mysteries. In addition, I also learn that it is very important to protect these animals and their living environments because they are part of our valuable natural world. Watching this program makes me very well informed and relaxed after a day of work.
4. What is the festival you attended? Describe it
My family and I attended the Buffalo – fighting Festival in Do Son last year. This festival is held every year, on August 9th according to Lunar calendar. The Buffalo – fighting Festival is held to remember the merits of gods, maintain the village discipline, to play for the prosperity and happiness for the local people. People played drum, danced and watched the buffalos. The drum sound and the scream of people urge the buffalo to play in a fierce way. Many buffalo owners, local people and tourists came to the festival. The festival was really fascinating and amazing.

Energy is very important in our daily life. We use energy for almost everything we do. However energy is limited. We should do the following things to save energy. Firstly, we should use electricity more efficiently. Secondly, we had better reduce our electricity bills. Besides, it’s necessary to turn off the lights when leaving a room or before going to bed to save energy. Moreover, we ought to reduce the use of fossil fuels. In short, we should try our best to save energy for our future and for our planet’s future.
1. What are the traffic problems in big cities?
The big city where I live and some other places have some traffic problems. One of the traffic problems is that there are too many traffic jams every day, so there are many traffic accidents too. Secondly, some people don’t obey the traffic laws. In addition, there are too many people using the road and too many vehicles, while the roads are narrow and bumpy. In short, there are some traffic problems in big cities. The street should be wider and everyone should obey the traffic rules strictly.
topic 1 : We can save energy by doing some following tips. First of all, we should use electricity more efficiently and reduce our electricity bill. We need to turn off the TV when we are not watching, turn off all the lights before going to bed. Besides, we should not leave the fridge door open in a long time due to wasting of electricity. Morever, we should save water by taking showers instead of baths or turning off the water when you don not use it. The next tip is reducing the use of fossil fuels like gas, coal, and oil. It is not only saving energy but also protect our environment. To do this, we can use public transport and avoid using car or motorbike for short trip. All in all, because our energy is limited we need to reserve it for the future generations.
topic 2 : Nowadays, traffic problems is one of the biggest problems that Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has to deal with. The first problem is traffic jams. There are too many people using the roads, especially in rush hours when everyone is in a hurry to get to work or come back home. Another problem is poor road conditions. The road is too narrow and bumpy. Moreover, many streets in Hanoi is usually flooded when it has heavy rain making it difficult to move. Traffic accidents is the biggest problem. Everyday, there are more and more accidents happening because of careless drivers: Driving after drinking alcohol, not wearing helmets, and so on. *) Talk about ways to save energy:
As you know, our energy has limitation, so we must save energy because of the following ways. Firstly, we have to turn off the electric appliances when we do not use them. Secondly, by using bicycle or public transports instead of motorbikes or cars. Finally, we should not throw all used papers and bottles. I suggest collecting them to reuse and recycle. Therefore, if we follow the above ways, we will not only save money but also conserve the energy.
Talk about the main of transport in the future:
I believe that in 20 years the cars we drive will not be that different. I think most of the cars will move away from traditional fuel sources, but for the most part, will remain unchanged. I think the biggest problem we face isn't changing the vehicle itself, but the infrastructure that it depends on. I believe in the next century we will see a change in the road systems which will allow for greater density of vehicles, reducing the amount of space needed for roads and highways. Americans want a vehicle that can go anywhere, off road, on a race track, or down the freeway, and I believe in the future we will have multiple cars for different uses. One car for cruising around town, probably a fully electric vehicle, and another for commuting and urban driving. For those who still crave a little dirt under their tires, I think there will always be traditional Jeeps, trucks, etc. We will always have a large need for construction equipment, and I don't see those vehicles changing, other than by converting to cleaner fuels. I also believe that before 2050, self-driving cars will be coming on the market. If a 'track' system, or some system of guidance were implemented on major thoroughfares and in urban areas, a commuter could simply pull onto the freeway and switch to autopilot. This would allow cars to flow in a much more organized fashion, allowing higher speeds, safer roads, and fewer emissions caused by road congestion. The other thing I see increasing is the use of air travel. If aircraft could be made easy enough to fly by the average Joe, with a licensing system equivalent to the DMV, I believe more people would travel by air. Whatever happens, I believe or streets will be safer to drive on, and our cars will be more fun to ride in.
* To save the energy, we have to:
- Turn off lights and appliances when you are not using them, use energy-saving light bulbs
- Reuse plastic bags for shopping and storage
- Use a microwave instead of a stove to reheat food
- Change your travel behaviour, think more in terms of public transportation, if possible, walk or ride your bicycle instead of taking the car
- Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable batteries
- Reduce your house heat by 1C, keep the windows closed while heating, dress warmly
- Choose products that come with lightweight packaging
- Understand and improve your home's energy use
- Insulate your roof
- Turn heaters and coolers off when you don't need them
* We can protect the enviroments by:
1 Wrap gifts in fabric and tie with ribbon; both are reusable and prettier than paper and sticky-tape.
2 Start a compost heap to reduce the waste you send to landfill sites.
3 Buy your own hive: without bees the planet would last for only 60 years (and honey is good for your health).
4 Use a nappy washing service: they use 32% less energy and 41% less water than home washing.
5 Slow down. Driving at 50mph uses 25% less fuel than 70mph.
6 Wash your clothes with your flatmates' instead of wasting water on half-empty loads.
7 Turn down your central heating and put on a jumper.
8 Take a brisk shower, not a leisurely bath, to save water.
9 Hold a Tupperware party. Airtight food containers can be reused; sandwich bags and plastic wrap cannot.
10 Choose energy-efficient appliances when you replace old ones.
Plant more trees.
cycle and recycle more.
Don't throw the trash on the road.
